For the third consecutive year, Swissôtel Quito is contributing to the reduction of its carbon footprint and reaffirming its commitment to sustainability in Ecuador.

Swissôtel Quito, part of H.O.V. Hotelera Quito S.A. and a prestigious brand within the Accor Group portfolio, renews its strong commitment to environmental sustainability in Ecuador. Following the achievement of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory Neutrality Declaration in 2024, in 2025 we once again obtained this verification, reaffirming our ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and promote responsible practices.
The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions inventory covers the period from January to December 2024. During this time, concrete actions were implemented to measure, reduce, and offset emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, reaching a total of 2,775.75 tCO₂e.
As part of this commitment, H.O.V. Hotelera Quito S.A. financed the purchase and retirement of 2,326.00 tCO₂e in Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), linked to the Hebei ChengAn Biomass Cogeneration project (VC38126/2025), thereby directly contributing to the mitigation of environmental impact.
The verification was conducted by SGS Ecuador, a leading environmental certification body, under Declaration No. EC-5-2532736-2-2-0-3362.
This achievement, attained for the third consecutive year, reinforces Swissôtel Quito’s path toward sustainable hotel management. The measurement of 2025 emissions is already underway, as part of our enduring commitment to the planet and future generations.

Each hotel room also features a special card that reads: "We Care About Sustainability." This card invites guests to make a conscious choice and offers the option to place it on their bed in the morning if they wish to keep their bedding unchanged, as a sustainable gesture to reduce natural resource consumption and minimize waste.
Swissôtel Quito – A Sustainable Hotel
As part of its sustainability measures, Swissôtel Quito has adopted the use of eco-friendly wooden key cards for room access, replacing PVC cards and thereby reducing carbon emissions. While a PVC card emits 0.061 kg CO₂, an eco-friendly wooden card emits no carbon (0 kg CO₂).
Overall, Accor was the first international hotel group to commit to long-term decarbonization of all its operations and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, including a 46% reduction in emissions by 2030, validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative.
