Swissôtel Quito Reaffirms Its Commitment to Sustainability for the Fourth Consecutive Year.

The hotel, part of Accor’s portfolio, has received a new Greenhouse Gas Verification Statement issued by Bureau Veritas Ecuador, further reinforcing its commitment to responsible and sustainable hospitality.
Swissôtel Quito, operated by H.O.V. Hotelera Quito S.A. and part of Accor’s portfolio, continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability by achieving its fourth consecutive year of carbon footprint verification, reaffirming its dedication to environmental management and the implementation of sustainable practices within Ecuador’s hospitality industry.
This significant milestone is supported by a new Greenhouse Gas Verification Statement, issued on September 25, 2026, by Bureau Veritas Ecuador S.A., an independent verification and validation body.
The statement covers a total of 4,689.05 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO₂e) quantified during the period from January to December 2025, under the Carbon Compensation Program, encompassing the hotel's accommodation and food and beverage operations.
This achievement reflects the continuity of Swissôtel Quito’s environmental management efforts over four consecutive years, further establishing emissions measurement and verification as integral components of its continuous improvement processes.

Swissôtel Quito – A Sustainable Hotel
As part of its sustainability measures, Swissôtel Quito has adopted the use of eco-friendly wooden key cards for room access, replacing PVC cards and thereby reducing carbon emissions. While a PVC card emits 0.061 kg CO₂, an eco-friendly wooden card emits no carbon (0 kg CO₂).
Each hotel room also features a special card that reads: "We Care About Sustainability." This card invites guests to make a conscious choice and offers the option to place it on their bed in the morning if they wish to keep their bedding unchanged, as a sustainable gesture to reduce natural resource consumption and minimize waste.
Overall, Accor was the first international hotel group to commit to long-term decarbonization of all its operations and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, including a 46% reduction in emissions by 2030, validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative.
